WooCommerce Multisite Product Sync Options for WordPress Networks

WooCommerce Multisite product sync options for WordPress networks.

Our  clients often ask us, “Can I sync products across multiple sites?” Of course, the answer is yes – with WooCommerce Multisite product sync plugins or custom code.

It all starts with deploying or using your pre-existing WordPress website with WooCommerce and Multisite installed.

Fortunately, there are some great options for syncing products between sites in your WooCommerce Multisite network.

Here’s more detail on your options for WooCommerce Multisite product sync plugins and more so you can start syncing products across your WordPress multistores.

What is WordPress Multisite?

Multisite is a built-in extension for WordPress. It allows you to manage multiple sites under the umbrella of one WordPress install. But, it only uses one database by default for all the sites in the network.

You can manage multiple sites for the same domain name as well all under the dashboard of the main site.

Multisite turns WordPress into a network of sites.

When you enable Multisite, a lot of other features become available such as activating plugins or themes network-wide, at least for those that are Multisite-compatible. Otherwise, plugins and themes can be installed on sites individually.

The admin account for your site also becomes the super administrator for the entire network. This account manages admin access for each of your sites.

Some of the use cases for using WordPress Multisite are for businesses that need separate content for varying regions or office locations. It can also help in such cases where multiple languages for varying advertising regions are needed.

What About WooCommerce Multisite?

Not only that, but if you also install WooCommerce on your WordPress Multisite install, your network of sites transforms into a network of eCommerce stores.

This is especially appealing if you have several products that aren’t necessarily related, if you have an umbrella company with several brands or other situations.

You could also use this setup as a developer to manage multiple client stores at once.

Many businesses also use a WooCommerce Multisite product sync setup to offer creating online stores as a service.

There are tonnes of other reasons why WooCommerce Multisite can be super useful.

A Cursory and Crucial Reminder

I’d be remiss not to mention the fact that before you decide to make any changes to your site or network, you should create a full back up of your site or network.

That way, if anything should happen, you’ll be able to restore your sites to their former state.

It may also be important to note that this also includes installing plugins. Even if you trust the plugin, there could still be compatibility issues that arise. If they do, it’s not necessarily because the plugin is of poor quality.

Sometimes, errors could arise just because of your specific setup and customizations. It’s impossible for any one plugin to be fully compatible with every single plugin and set up.

This is due to the sheer number of plugins, customizations and setups out there. There’s just too much for even mega companies to test. So, keep that in mind and only test plugins or customizations in a staging or local development environment before pushing changes to your live site.

To back up your network, you can use plugins like WP Migrate DB or Duplicator Pro. Beyond that, you can get a developer to help you such as the verified WooCommerce experts here at Progressus.io.

Not only can I list my products on different domains but it also provides a global cart which is great because now customers can order from any domain and it will be fulfilled by the same seller. https://woomultidomain.com/

    1. Hey Michelle,

Great question. These plugins are specifically for WooCommerce Multisite. To sync between WooCommerce and Shopify, you’d need a different plugin. There’s the Shopify Connector for WooCommerce plugin you can check out. If you want to sync your store to complete various tasks when certain actions happen, you can try Zapier or IFTTT.

Other options include ZapInventory and ChannelDock.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

      All the best,
